Chandler, Arizona—Wei Chu, age 30, was killed yesterday as a result of a car accident in Chandler.  Chu, who was pregnant, was a passenger in her father’s Honda Accord when it was struck by a Ford pickup truck in an intersection.  Chu was seated in the rear passenger seat when the collision occurred.

Chu was rushed to a hospital where physicians delivered her baby girl before Chu passed away.  Chu’s husband, who was not in the car when the accident occurred, was taken to the hospital to be with his wife and baby.

The baby is reported to be in critical condition.

Chu’s mother also was transported to the hospital for treatment of her accident related injuries.

We extend our sincere condolences to Ms. Chu’s family and friends over this tragic loss, and we wish her baby daughter and mother a complete and speedy recovery from their injuries.
