13-Year-Old Girl Killed, Monica Garcia and Another Child Injured in Boating Accident
Bullhead City, Arizona—An as yet unidentified 13-year-old girl was killed in a boating accident on the Colorado River shortly after noon Saturday. Kevin Morgan, age 42 of Long Beach, California, was arrested and charged with operating a watercraft while intoxicated. The accident occurred near Davis Camp South Beach when the 20-foot ski boat he was piloting smashed into a personal watercraft carrying three people.
Monica Garcia, age 42 of Colton, California, was driving the personal watercraft along with two girls ages 8 and 13. The 13-year-old suffered severe head trauma. She was transported to Western Arizona Regional Medical Center where she later died.
Ms. Garcia was airlifted to a nearby hospital in Las Vegas with a collapsed lung and broken left arm. The 8-year-old girl suffered multiple broken bones and deep lacerations in her left arm.
We extend our condolences to the family and friends of the young teen over this tragic loss, which is made worse by the reckless behavior of another. We wish Ms. Garcia and the 8-year-old swift and full recoveries.
