Buckeye, Arizona—A violent rear-end collision Sunday evening has claimed the life of a young woman and sent a man to the hospital with serious injuries.

The incident occurred near 195th Avenue and Yuma Road.  A white Dodge Ram 1500 pick-up truck, driven by a man in his 20’s, rear-ended a four-door hatchback passenger vehicle with such force that the entire back half of the hatchback was under the front wheels of the pick-up truck.

Passengers in the hatchback were transported to an area hospital.  One, a woman in her 20’s, died, while a man in his 30’s remains in serious condition.  Neither victim has, as yet, been identified.

Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office accident investigators are determining whether the driver of the pick-up truck may have been impaired.

We extend our condolences to the family and friends of the young woman who died, and we wish the injured man a speedy and complete recovery.
