Goodyear, Arizona—A hit-and-run accident on Interstate 10 in Goodyear on Sunday left a man with life-threatening injuries.  According to Arizona Department of Public Safety accident investigators, the driver of a black pickup truck lost control and crossed several lanes before coming to rest in the HOV and high-speed lanes of the freeway.

A witness stopped to help the driver push the truck out of the way when a small gray passenger car hit the rear corner of the disabled truck.  The truck driver was thrown into the air.  The pickup went into the median where it burst into flames.  The driver of the small gray car fled the scene.

The Arizona Department of Transportation closed the westbound lanes of I-10 near Dysart Road during the accident investigation.

The following evening, Juan Caraveo, age 30, turned himself in to the Goodyear Police Department.  He was arrested and faces charges of aggravated assault, criminal damage and leaving the scene of an injury accident.

We wish a speedy and complete recovery for the injured person.
