Pete Rivas Killed By Hit-and-Run Driver

Glendale, Arizona—Pete Rivas, age 62, was killed late on Saturday night, April 26th as he attempted to cross the street near 60th Avenue and Bethany Home Road.  Mr. Rivas, who was in an unmarked crosswalk, was struck by a white SUV, believed to be a 1996 through 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe.

According to Glendale police accident investigators, the driver of the SUV failed to stop following the impact, and drove instead to a Circle K store a short distance from the scene of the collision.  The driver reportedly got out of his vehicle to examine it, then drove away.

Police have described the suspect as approximately 30 years old, African American, with a muscular build and short dark hair.  Another African American male was a passenger in the SUV.
