Lindsey Earl and Terry Dempsey Killed in Car Accident
Gila River Indian Community, Arizona—Yesterday, I wrote about a tragic five-vehicle crash that occurred Saturday night on eastbound Interstate 10 near Wild Horse Pass Casino. The victims in that deadly crash have now been identified as Lindsey Earl, age 28 of Lakeside, and her fiancé, Terry Dempsey, age 27 of Lakeside and currently living in Tucson.
According to Arizona Department of Public Safety accident investigators, Ms. Earl, a promising young country music singer, was pronounced dead at the scene, while Mr. Dempsey was transported to Chandler Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
The driver who caused the accident is currently being held on $500,000 bond and faces multiple charges, including DUI, second-degree murder and nine counts of endangerment.
In earlier years, Ms. Earl had won several state pageants and, more than once, competed at the national level in Nashville, Tennessee. In 2010, she was named Miss Navajo County.
Ms. Earl earned a bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Science from the University of Arizona in Tucson two years ago. She and Mr. Dempsey became engaged this past Christmas.
We extend our condolences to the families and friends of Ms. Earl and Mr. Dempsey over this tragic loss, which is made worse by the reckless behavior of another.
