Higley High Student Luke Knight Dies in Car Accident

Gilbert, Arizona—Luke Knight, age 17, has died as a result of injuries sustained in a car accident on Friday afternoon. The crash occurred near Pecos and Recker, not far from Higley High School where Luke was enrolled as a junior.

According to investigators with the Gilbert Police Department, two vehicles were eastbound on Pecos when they collided. The car that Luke was driving was redirected into a pole.

Luke was rushed to a local trauma hospital where he passed away. A vigil was held at Higley High School on Saturday evening to honor Luke's life.

The three occupants of the other vehicle sustained injuries but are expected to make full recoveries. It is believed those three also attend Higley High School.

Accident investigators state that there is no evidence of speeding or impairment. The collision remains under investigation.
