Mesa, Arizona—Steven Hogen, the Athletic Director for the Mesa Public Schools, was seriously injured in a hit-and-run collision that occurred on Saturday.

According to Detective Steve Berry of the Mesa Police Department, Dr. Hogen was riding his bicycle at about 8:00 a.m. near Gary Street and Lindsay Road—just across from Mountain View High School—when an unidentified driver crashed into him. Dr. Hogen was rushed to the hospital where doctors diagnosed him with a broken neck. He likely will require several surgeries.

The driver who hit him fled the scene of the accident. Police are looking for a four-door white sedan with front-end damage. Anybody with information on the crash should contact the Mesa Police Department at (480) 644-2211.

Dr. Hogen has served as the Athletic Director for the Mesa Public Schools since 1999. Prior to that, he worked as the Athletic Director at Red Mountain High School.
