
Veteran Steven Richardson Intentionally Run Down After Protecting Woman in Assault at Grocery Store

Chandler, Arizona—Steven Richardson was intentionally run down after intervening in a domestic assault at the Fry's Food store at Riggs and McQueen on Thursday evening. Mr. Richardson, who is a veteran, sustained serious injuries in the attack.
According to the Chandler Police Department, Mr. Richardson was at the Fry's Food store when he saw a man dragging a woman across the parking lot. He stepped in to protect the woman, who was pulled into a Honda SUV. Mr. Richardson attempted to block the SUV from leaving the parking lot. When it became clear to the man that Mr. Richardson was not moving, he sped up and ran over him.
As soon as they figure out he wasn't moving, they gassed it.

The driver of the SUV fled the scene. Police hace recovered the SUV, but have only a vague description of the suspect. Chandler Police are encouraging anybody with information on this attack to contact investigators at 480-782-4130. The police report number is 2016-039777.
Mr. Richardson's courageous and selfless actions are praiseworthy. We wish him a speedy and complete recovery and hope that police investigators identify the culprit and bring him to justice.
