
Phoenix Police Officer Blake Newman Dies in Motorcycle Accident

Glendale, Arizona—Phoenix Police Officer Blake Newman, age 25, died as a result of injuries he received when his motorcycle struck a curb, causing him to lose control and crash. Officer Newman was off-duty when the accident occurred near 95th Avenue and Maryland Avenue at about 11:00 p.m. on Monday night.
The Glendale Police Department responded to the scene, then notified Phoenix Police who joined them.
Officer Newman served the Phoenix Police Department since June 18, 2018. He was assigned to patrol in the Maryvale-Estrella Mountain precinct.
Officer Newman, who was from Illinois, was deployed in the Middle East as a Marine before joining the Phoenix Police.
Among numerous organizations expressing condolences are the Phoenix Law Enforcement Association and Maricopa County Sheriff Paul Penzone. The accident investigation is ongoing.
Officer Newman is survived by his parents and extended family. We extend our condolences to Officer Newman’s family and friends at this time of great loss for them.
