Phoenix, Arizona—Audry April Smith and John Carlos Sorto were killed early Saturday morning when their motorcycle reportedly crashed into a transition wall ramp connecting the Interstate 10 west to Interstate 17 north.  Mr. Soto was operating the bike and Ms. Smith was his passenger.

Witnesses say they did not see the impact, but did see the bike still moving in an upright position with no one on it.  The bike travelled several hundred feet following the collision with the ramp wall.

Both riders were wearing helmets, but when they were ejected from the motorcycle, they fell more than 100 feet from the ramp to a gravel area below.

Arizona Department of Public Safety investigators report that speed does not appear to be a factor in the accident.

We extend our condolences to the families and friends of both Ms. Smith and Mr. Sorto at this time of great loss for them.
