Phoenix, Arizona—A 3-year-old girl is hospitalized in a medically-induced coma after she was struck by a Phoenix police vehicle while crossing the street in front of her house.  She had just bought an ice cream treat from a vending truck and was returning home.  The tragic incident happened one week ago near Camelback Road and 57th Avenue.

The side of the girl’s face and head were scraped across the pavement as she was dragged under the police vehicle.  Her mother, 10-year-old brother and 7-year-old sister were at the horrific scene.  The young girl immediately underwent surgery to remove parts of her skull in order to relieve pressure on the brain.

Police state the girl darted into the street to return home after buying her treat.  An attorney retained by the young girl’s family, denied that claim.  A 35-year-old female officer was driving the police cruiser.
