
Car Accident in Buckeye Claims Life of Eric Merrill, Injures Two

Buckeye, Arizona—Eric Merrill, age 59, was killed in a rollover accident that occurred on Palo Verde Road near Interstate 10 in Buckeye. Two others, including Mr. Merrill's son, were injured in the crash.
Mr. Merrill recently retired from his position as Deputy Fire Chief in Rio Verde, Arizona, a community northeast of Scottsdale. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and worked in fire forty years.
The accident is being investigated by the Buckeye Police Department. Two vehicles were involved in the collision and both rolled. It is unknown whether speed or impairment were factors in the collision.
A procession of fire and police escorted Mr. Merrill to the medical examiner's office in downtown Phoenix.
