Ethelyn Hartline Killed, Two Others Injured in Bicycle Accident
Cornville, Arizona—Ethelyn Hartline, age 48 of Gilbert, died Saturday evening after a van struck her bicycle. Ms. Hartline was thrown into the car’s windshield before she fell to the side of the road. Ms. Hartline was transported to Flagstaff Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.
Two other bicyclists also were struck. They were treated for their injuries and later released.
The driver of the car who struck the bicyclists has been identified by the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office as 90 year old Nelson Shaum. Mr. Shaum reportedly told accident investigators that he believed he had room to pass the cyclists.
The tragic incident remains under investigation.
