Kristen Meyer Identified as Woman Killed in Boat Explosion on Lake Powell
Lake Powell, Arizona—A few days ago, I wrote about a houseboat accident on Lake Powell in which a generator exploded, killing one person and critically injuring four. The decedent has been identified as Kristen Meyer, age 52 of Castle Rock, Colorado.
A group shares private ownership of the vessel, which was anchored on shore in a section of Glen Canyon National Recreational Area in Utah.
Three helicopters and one fixed-wing plane were provided by Classic Aviation to transport the injured to Salt Lake City, Utah and to Grand Junction, Colorado for treatment of their injuries.
Rescue efforts were coordinated among the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office, the National Park Service and the San Juan County Medical Examiner. Ms. Meyer’s remains were transported to the Utah Medical Examiner in Salt Lake City, where an autopsy will be performed.
