Leander Frank, Navajo Nation Officer, Killed in Crash

Chinle, Arizona—Leander Frank, a Navajo Nation officer, was killed Tuesday in a head-on collision on SR-64 between Chinle and Tsaile, Arizona.

Arizona Department of Public Safety accident investigators report that Officer Frank was dispatched to a call in Tsaile in Apache County. While Officer Frank was answering the call, another vehicle approached his patrol car head-on. Both vehicles took evasive action but were unable to avoid a collision.

Officer Frank died at the scene. Occupants of the other vehicle survived, but there conditions are unknown. DPS continues to investigate the accident.
