Madison County, Illinois—A chain reaction involving four vehicles on Illinois Route 4 near St. Jacob claimed the life of an Arizona man on Thursday morning.

As southbound traffic on Route 4 slowed at Ellis Road, a truck driven by Ryan Krider, age 23 of Chillicothe, rear-ended a car driven by Neil Vollmar, age 46 of Edwardsville.

The collision pushed Mr. Vollmar’s car into the northbound lanes of Route 4, where it struck a vehicle driven by Pasqual Rodolpho, age 57 of Waddell, Arizona head-on.  Mr. Rodolpho died at the scene.

The fourth vehicle, a tanker-truck following Mr. Rodolpho driven by Allan Geiseking, age 48 of Highland, also was involved in the chain reaction.

None of the three other drivers was injured.  Route 4 remained closed for six hours while the Illinois State Police Department continued the accident investigation.

We extend our condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Rodolpho at this time of great loss for them.
