Hit-and-Run Accident Claims Life of 17-Year-Old Girl

An unidentified 17-year-old girl was killed in a hit-and-run accident as she crossed a street at 78th Avenue and Osborn Road on Monday night.  Lamar Ross Mays, age 36, has been arrested in connection with the crash.

A few days ago, I wrote about a houseboat accident on Lake Powell in which a generator exploded, killing one person and critically injuring four.  The decedent has been identified as Kristen Meyer of Castle Rock, Colorado.

Rafael Rosa was driving an SUV southbound on SR-87 when he lost control of the vehicle and crossed over the median before entering the northbound lanes of rolling. Mr. Rosa was killed, as was Esmeralda Rojas who was ejected when the vehicle rolled.

A wrong-way driver sideswiped several cars as he drove north in the southbound lanes of Interstate 17 on Tuesday afternoon. Darroll Roberts ran over motorcyclist Cindy Lee Meade, killing her instantly.  The wrong-way vehicle traveled for several hundred feet more until it stopped after striking a guardrail.

Donna Howard died from injuries she received when a tire of the bus she was driving failed, causing the bus to roll onto its side and partially ejecting her from the bus. The bus was part of a convoy of drum and bugle corps teams competing in a series of musical performances across the west and midwest, which they named Drums Across the Desert.
