Angel Marie Carrillo-Lopez and Reginald Porter Killed in Wrong-Way Accident on Loop 101

Phoenix, Arizona—Earlier this week I wrote about a wrong-way head-on accident on Loop 101 near Camelback Road that left three people dead.  Police have now identified two of the decedents as Angel Marie Carrillo-Lopez, age 29 of Glendale, and her boyfriend, Reginald Porter, age 27 of Los Angeles.

Angel and Reginald were northbound in the HOV lane of Loop 101 near Camelback Road at about 2:30 a.m. on Sunday morning.  They were struck head-on by a Nissan Altima driven by Caleb Bencomo, age 23 of Phoenix.  Both vehicles rolled following impact.  All three people died at the scene.  Investigators believe Bencomo was likely impaired.  

We wish to express out deepest sympathy to Ms. Carrillo’s and Mr. Porter’s families and friends over this tragic loss, which was made worse by the careless actions of another.
