Edgar Ferral-Lopez Killed in Hit-and-Run Accident

Phoenix, Arizona—A man who had just caused a fatal hit-and-run accident caused another less than a mile further down the road Saturday night.

Phoenix Police Department accident investigators report that L.C. Jones III, age 29, was traveling south in the center turn lane of 43rd Avenue near Indian School Road at a high rate of speed when he struck and killed Nester Lopez as he crossed the street.

Jones proceeded south on 43rd Avenue where he ran a red light at Osborn Road and collided with a 2007 Scion Coupe driven by Edgar Ferral-Lopez, age 28, and a pickup truck that was in the intersection.  No one in the pickup was injured.   

Jones got out of his car and fled on foot, abandoning his vehicle at the scene.  Police arrested him on Monday.
