Phoenix, Arizona—Jacob Rice, age 20, was killed early Saturday morning when his girlfriend, Brittney Nolan, also age 20, struck him with her car after Mr. Rice reportedly got out of the car during an argument between the two.

Ms. Nolan left the scene of the accident, later claiming that she believed she had only struck a pole.  Mr. Rice’s body was discovered after daybreak on Saturday by a jogger.

Accident investigators arrested Ms. Nolan on Saturday.  As yet, the charges against her have not been publicly released.

We express our sympathy to the family and friends of Mr. Rice at this time of great loss for them.
