Jesena Andony Killed in Phoenix Accident

Phoenix, Arizona—Jesena Andony, age 24 of Canada, was killed when she was hit by a car as she attempted to retrieve a cell phone that she dropped in the roadway. The accident occurred near 68th Place and Thomas Road in Phoenix early Saturday morning.

According to investigators with the Phoenix Police Department, Ms. Andony was on a golf cart with friends when she dropped her cell phone and landed it on the roadway. The driver of the golf cart pulled over and stopped to allow Ms. Andony to retrieve the phone. She was hit by another vehicle proceeding westbound on Thomas Road as she attempted to walk onto the roadway.

Accident investigators do not believe speed or impairment are factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
