Juana DeLaTorre Struck and Killed While Crossing Street in Crosswalk

Phoenix, Arizona—Juana DeLaTorre, age 50, died of injuries she received when she was hit by a pickup truck as she crossed the street in a crosswalk yesterday.  Phoenix Police Department accident investigators report that the pickup turned left onto Thomas Road from 67th Avenue while the traffic signal was yellow. 

The driver of the pickup truck is identified only as a 31-year-old man.  He remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation as neither speed nor impairment are considered factors.  

Our sympathies are with the victim’s family and friends over this tragic loss.
