Lola Thomason Killed, Unidentified Woman Seriously Injured in Phoenix Accident

On January 12, 2020, the Phoenix Police Department reported that Lola Thomason actually survived the collision. This corrected a previous statement from the department on December 23, 2009 that reported her death. The article below was originally published on December 24, 2019.

Phoenix, Arizona—A woman involved in a collision in north Phoenix on Monday has died and another remains in the hospital with serious injuries.

Lola Thomason, age 49, was driving westbound on Bell Road when she attempted a left turn onto 26th Street. As she made the turn, her vehicle was hit by another vehicle traveling eastbound on Bell Road. Ms. Thomason and the woman driving the other vehicle both were taken to a local hospital. Ms. Thomason later died while the other woman remains hospitalized with serious injuries. Police have not identified the other driver, describing her only as a 27-year-old woman.

The accident investigation remains ongoing.
