Phoenix, Arizona—A pedestrian struck by a pickup truck on a north Phoenix street on Saturday night has died.  Manual Araiza, age 54, was walking along Bell Road when he was struck by a westbound 2009 Chevrolet Silverado truck near 21st Avenue.  He was transported to a nearby hospital where he later died.

The 28 year old male driver of the pickup remained at the scene.  He reportedly told police he did not see Mr. Araiza before the collision, nor could he determine the direction from which Mr. Araiza had come.

Phoenix Police accident investigators ruled out impairment as a factor contributing to the accident. The investigation is ongoing

Our sympathies are with Mr. Araiza’s family and friends over this tragic loss.
