Phoenix, Arizona—An apparent incident of road rage on SR-51 left a man with multiple skull fractures and bleeding on the brain earlier this month. Arizona Department of Public Safety accident investigators report that two drivers apparently engaged in an argument while driving on Indian School Road. Both vehicles then entered SR-51.
The woman, identified as Khamari Vandell Thomas, age 23, was driving a Volkswagen Jetta. The as-yet unidentified man was riding a scooter. According to a witness on SR-51, both people were “driving aggressively”. Ms. Thomas reportedly “brake checked” then swerved into the scooter, causing it to leave the roadway. The man was thrown from his scooter and struck his head. Court records filed in the matter describe the man’s serious injuries.
DPS reports that, following the collision, Thomas continued driving to work. She made several calls to 911 but refused to speak with officers. She is charged with leaving the scene of an injury accident.
We wish the injured man a rapid and full recovery.
