
Salvador Banda, Jr. Killed in Accident on 7th Avenue Near Broadway

Phoenix, Arizona—7th Avenue was closed in both directions between Broadway and Watkins Road on Tuesday afternoon at about 1:45 p.m. while officers investigated an accident involving two Ford Mustangs.
According to Phoenix Fire Department accident investigators, Salvador Banda, Jr., age 24, was southbound on 7th Avenue when his Ford Mustang collided with another similar car that turned in front of him. The second Mustang entered 7th Avenue from a side street, heading north. The driver was identified only as a 53-year-old man. Neither he nor his passenger was injured in the t-bone crash.
The impact sent Mr. Banda’s Mustang into the northbound lanes where it crashed with a Honda Pilot. Officials pronounced Mr. Banda deceased at the scene. The driver of the Honda Pilot was transported to a nearby hospital with serious, but not life-threatening injuries.
