Phoenix, Arizona—A pedestrian was hit and killed near 35th Avenue and Northern Avenue as he attempted to cross the street.

According to accident investigators with the Phoenix Police Department, Sam Veazey, age 58, was crossing the street near the 3600 block of Northern Avenue at around 9:00 p.m. when the driver of a Pontiac Montana van struck him. Mr. Veazey was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.
