Phoenix, Arizona—The driver in a fatal hit-and-run accident that killed Tanya Karim remains unknown and the victim's family is desperate to identify that person.

On December 7, 2019 at about 8:11 p.m., Ms. Karim was crossing Broadway Road near 27th Street when she was struck by a vehicle. The driver of that vehicle fled the scene. A witness pulled over and called 911 and stayed with Ms. Karim until emergency responders arrived on scene.

According to investigators with the Phoenix Police Department, some of the events that evening were captured on store surveillance video. Police believe that one of two vehicles identified on that video hit Ms. Karim: either a dark-colored older pickup truck or a light-colored car. Police say the vehicle likely has front-end damage, including headlight damage

She was the kind of person that would give you the last money that she had. If you asked her for a dollar, she would give you whatever money she had. Jimmy Smith, Tanya Karim's father

Anybody with information regarding this deadly accident is asked to call Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS. Spanish speakers should call 480-TESTIGO.

We offer our condolences Tanya Karim's family and friends and hope this crime will be solved.
