Woman in Wheelchair Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver in Phoenix

Phoenix, Arizona—A woman in a wheelchair was critically injured in a hit-and-run accident in west Phoenix this morning at about 4:45 a.m.  The as-yet unidentified woman was crossing 43rd Avenue at Indian School Road when she was struck by a vehicle traveling northbound on 43rd Avenue. 

The critically injured woman was transported to a nearby hospital.  Phoenix Police have not yet released her name.

The Arizona Department of Transportation closed 43rd Avenue in both directions between Indian School and Clarendon Avenue.  The investigation is ongoing.

We wish the injured woman a swift and full recovery.
