Impairment Suspected Cause in Wrong-Way Head-On Accident

Phoenix, Arizona—Phoenix Police suspect driver impairment may have led to a wrong-way head-on collision on Sunday night. A sedan traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of Galvin Parkway near McDowell Road struck a Chevy Suburban.
A passenger from the Suburban told news reporters that the five people in that vehicle were headed to the airport. One woman from the Suburban was transported to a hospital for treatment of her injuries. She is expected to recover.
Police are continuing to investigate the driver of the sedan to determine whether impairment was involved.
