16-Year-Old Chino Valley Boy Injured in Hit-and-Run Bicycle Accident

Chino Valley, Arizona—A 16-year-old boy from Chino Valley was struck by a pickup truck while riding his bicycle in the 500 block of West Center Street shortly before 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Accident investigators have not released the boy’s name.
The pickup driver left the scene, then was arrested the following day at his home. He is identified as Chad Avilla, age 43, of Prescott. Mr. Avilla was booked into Yavapai County Jail and charged with endangerment, failure to stop following an injury accident and aggravated assault.
The bicyclist was transported by air to Phoenix Children’s Hospital where he is listed in stable condition.
