Matthew Mattias Killed, Four Others Injured in Cornville Car Accident

Cornville, Arizona—One person was killed and four others were injured in a single-vehicle accident on Saturday night.  Matthew Mattias, age 24 of Cottonwood, and four friends were returning from a trip to the river at about 7:00 p.m. when Mattias lost control and crashed his car.  
         
Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office and the Fire Department were called to a dirt road in the 11400 block of Willow Point Road, just east of Highway 89 and south of Page Springs.  They found a Nissan hatchback on its side.  Inside, Mattias was dead and four passengers had serious but not-life-threatening injuries.  The as-yet unidentified passengers included three males ages 14, 18, 38 and a 16-year-old girl.
