Elderly Pedestrian Struck and Killed While Crossing Mill Avenue
Tempe, Arizona—A suspected drunk driver struck and killed a 77-year-old female pedestrian as she crossed Mill Avenue on Thursday night. The as-yet unidentified woman crossed Mill Avenue from the west to the east side near Del Rio Drive at about 9:00 p.m.
The driver, John Valenzuela, age 31, was northbound on Mill Avenue at the time of the collision. Police arrested Valenzuela on charges of driving under the influence and suspicion of manslaughter. The investigation continues.
