Driver Killed After Colliding with Light Rail Train in Tempe

Tempe, Arizona—An unidentified man was killed after his vehicle collided with a light rail train early this morning.

According to investigators with the Tempe Police Department, the accident occurred near Center Parkway and Washington Street just before 12:30 a.m. The man was driving eastbound when he collided with a westbound train.

The driver died at the scene and the train operator was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. There were no passengers on the train at the time of the accident.

Investigators continue to work to determine the cause of the accident.
