Tempe Pedestrian Struck and Killed While Walking on Sidewalk

Tempe, Arizona—An unidentified pedestrian in Tempe was struck and killed by a car that swerved onto the sidewalk on Thursday night.

The accident occurred at 48th Street and Southern Avenue.  The car was westbound on Southern when, for an unknown reason, it swerved onto the north sidewalk, striking the pedestrian, then hitting a tree.

The pedestrian was transported to a trauma center where he died as a result of his injuries.
The three occupants of the car, an 18 year old and two 17 year olds, were transported to a hospital.  There is no word on the extent of their injuries. Accident investigators have not released the identities of those involved.
