Mercedes Garcia, Luis Garcia and Almadelia Cervantes Killed, Seven Others Injured, in Tire Separation Accident

Phoenix, Arizona—Mercedes Arissa Garcia, age 11, and Luis James Garcia, age 15, both of Maricopa, Arizona, were killed at the scene of a tragic one-vehicle roll-over accident Sunday afternoon on Interstate 10 near 12th Street.  Almadelia Farias Cervantes, age 23 of Phoenix, was transported to a hospital for treatment of injuries she received in the crash, but she, too, later died.

Seven others were injured in the horrific accident, most of them children.

Arizona Department of Public Safety accident investigators report that the Chevrolet Tahoe, driven by an as yet unidentified man, crossed the freeway median then rolled after tread separated from the left rear tire.

We wish to express our sympathy to the families and friends of those lost in this tragic accident.  We wish those who were injured speedy and complete recoveries.
