Mesa, Arizona—A six-year-old boy died tragically after he was hit by a semi-truck this afternoon. The accident occurred at the intersection of Power Road and Jensen Street in Mesa.

According to accident investigators with the Mesa Police Department, the boy was standing on a corner at the intersection with a family member when the semi-truck made a turn and the back end of the vehicle went onto the curb and hit the child.

The boy was rushed to a local hospital with serious injuries. Medical efforts were unsuccessful and he died from his injuries.

The accident remains under investigation.
