Mesa, Arizona—Yesterday, I wrote about the tragic story of a six-year-old boy who was hit by a semi-truck at the intersection of Power Road and Jensen Street in Mesa. Today, the police identified the boy as Holden Gardner.

Accident investigators with the Mesa Police Department report that the boy was standing at the corner of the intersection with a family member when the semi-truck made a sharp turn. The back end of the trailer went onto the curb and hit Holden.

Holden was rushed to a local trauma center where he died from his injuries.

Holden attended Falcon Hill Elementary School in Mesa. Mesa Public Schools released the following statement:

The Mesa Public Schools family is saddened by the tragic death of an elementary school student this afternoon in a traffic accident. Our thoughts are with the child’s family and friends. The district will be providing additional counseling support tomorrow and for as long as needed by the school community.

We offer our deepest condolences to the Holden Gardner's family for their tragic loss.
