Chemult, Oregon—A couple from Anthem, Arizona was involved in a four-vehicle accident on an icy highway in Oregon on Monday morning, leaving the wife dead and her husband critically injured.
David Goulding, age 64 of Anthem, Arizona, was driving on U.S. Highway 97 north of Chemult when a semi-truck headed in the opposite direction braked for traffic that was slowing. The rig’s trailer swung into oncoming traffic where it collided with the Goulding’s SUV. David’s wife, Karen Goulding, age 65, died in the collision. David was air evac'd to St. Charles Bend for treatment of his life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the semi-truck, a 30-year-old man from California, sustained minor injuries. No one in the other cars was injured. Oregon State Police and the Oregon Department of Transportation responded to the scene. They were assisted by Chemult Fire and Rescue and troopers from Bend Area Command and La Pine Outpost.
We extend our condolences to the Goulding family and friends over this tragic loss.
