Phoenix, Arizona—An accident on the Loop 202 South Mountain this afternoon involving two-semi trucks and six vehicles injured as many as eight people. The crash occurred in the northbound lanes of the Loop 202 near the Buckeye Road exit.

According to accident investigators, the driver of one of the semi-trucks failed to stop as traffic conditions slowed and triggered the collision.

The injured include a two-year-old child and three adults who were taken to local hospitals. Four additional people were treated at the scene but were not transported by ambulance to the hospital.

Efforts by emergency responders to treat the injured were hampered by the presence of hazardous materials.

There's also a hazardous materials component to this incident. One of the semi trucks is leaking diesel fuel while the other truck was reportedly transporting acetylene tanks.
