
Suspected Impaired Teen Driver Crashes in Arivaca, Resulting in Two Fatalities and Three Injuries

Arivaca, Arizona—A 17-year-old driver was arrested after two people died and three others were injured when their vehicle crashed as the driver attempted to evade authorities. The crash occurred Wednesday evening on a rural road about 50 miles southwest of Tucson in Arivaca.
Pima County Sheriff’s Department accident investigators report that U.S. Border Patrol agents gave pursuit after the driver failed to yield. The vehicle sped away, then crashed a short distance down the road.
The teenage driver was arrested under suspicion of driving while impaired. Pending charges include two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of aggravated assault and one count each of criminal damage and unlawful flight from law enforcement.
Authorities released no identities.
