Douglas, Arizona—Susan Marie Katz, age 61, was fatally injured when she was struck while riding her bicycle near Double Adobe and McBride roads this past Sunday.

According to the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office, the vehicle involved was a GMC pickup truck eastbound on Double Adobe Road.  The driver stopped and called 911 to report the accident.

Ms. Katz was a retired captain from the Arizona Department of Corrections at the Douglas Prison Complex.  She was known around town for riding her bicycle most everywhere she went.

Double Adobe Road was closed for several hours while the CCSO’s accident reconstruction team conducted the investigation.

Our sympathies are with Susan Katz’s family and friends at this time of great loss for them.
