Wrong-Way Driver Causes Fatal Head-On Collision

Yuma, Arizona—Dorothy Paul, age 80 of Yuma, died when she drove in the wrong direction on Interstate 8 and struck another vehicle head-on.  The incident occurred Tuesday morning on I-8 between the 16th Street and Giss Parkway on-ramps.

Ms. Paul was driving east in the westbound lanes when her vehicle struck another vehicle head-on, critically injuring the as-yet-unidentified 60-year-old male driver.  Ms. Paul died at the scene while the driver of the other car was transported first to the Yuma Regional Medical Center, then later to a hospital in Phoenix.  Both drivers were wearing safety restraints.

We extend our condolences to the family and friends of Ms. Paul at this time of great loss for them, and we wish the driver of the other car a speedy and complete recovery.
