Phoenix, Arizona—A husband and wife were struck by a hit-and-run driver in a Dodge Nitro at a crosswalk at 32nd Street and McDowell Road on Sunday night at about 9:30 p.m. Phoenix Police say Leroy Romero, age 43, pushed his wife out of the way before being struck and killed by the SUV. Phoenix firefighters pronounced Mr. Romero deceased at the scene. His wife escaped with minor injuries.
The suspect driver is still at large. Anyone with information about this deadly collision should contact the Phoenix Police Department.
