Carlos Aguirre Loses His Life While Saving Daughter in Hit-and-Run Accident
Glendale, Arizona—Carlos Chavez Aguirre, age 39, lost his life while saving his daughter Saturday night. The pair was crossing the street near 49th Avenue and Glendale Avenue at about 7:15 p.m. when the accident occurred.
Mr. Aguirre’s family believes that Carlos saw an approaching pickup truck and pushed his 17-year-old daughter to safety, taking the full brunt of the collision. His daughter escaped with a fractured collarbone. The pickup driver sped away from the scene.
Police are searching for a lifted 2003 to 2006 Chevy Silverado single cab pickup truck, dark brown in color with large wheels. Anyone with information is urged to call Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS. The family has established a GoFundMe page.
