
Woman in Wheelchair Victim in Chandler Hit-and-Run Accident

Chandler, Arizona—A 68-year-old Chandler woman who was struck by an SUV while crossing the street in her wheelchair last month has died. Chandler Police have not released the woman’s name. The suspect remains at large.
The accident occurred on August 16 at about 6:15 a.m. near Arizona Avenue as the victim crossed Ray Road. The driver fled south on Iowa Street and disappeared into the neighborhood. Witnesses describe the driver as a Hispanic man with a mustache, in his late thirties and wearing a dark-colored hat.
Security video coverage of the area revealed a dark-colored Dodge Caravan with missing hubcaps on the front driver side and rear passenger side, as well as duct tape on the front passenger window.
The victim died on August 28th. Anyone with information should call Chandler Police at (480) 782-4887.
